Not dead yet: ASP survivors rally behind model

Application service providers Dunson and Dimension Data Central both claim to be signing up several new customers a month and are keen to point out that the ASP model is not dead yet.

In the June 5 issue of ARN it was reported that application service provider Qi was in administration and that the ASP Industry Consortium was in no man's land as most of its members had gone out of business or changed business models.

But Dimension Data Central managing director Jonathan Klug and Dunson technical director Phil Lancaster both continue to see dollar signs in the much-hyped business model. Both run ASP operations that are business units of larger IT services companies with many years of experience in the local market. Although keen to keep their customers anonymous, both were also willing to go into some detail about what is working for the model and what isn't.

For their stories, read ARN next week (June 26).
