EMC has appointed Gary Cox to head up its global services business unit.

He is charged with expanding EMC’s information infrastructure business locally, and aims to target the SMB market.

Cox replaces Tony Simonsen.

The Global Services unit spans presales, implementation, professional services and maintenance and support teams.

“I’m going to be spending a lot of time with our key partners and ensure that we’ve got good working relationships from a services perspective,” Cox said.

“We’ve always had a core set of consulting offerings around assessments, business continuity, datacentre relocation and strategic consulting around those spaces.”

He wants to expand EMC’s virtualisation offerings and implementation services.

“Another area we’ll spend time working on is storage managed services,” Cox said.

Prior to joining EMC, he was the CEO for True Local and has held roles at Oracle and Microsoft.
