Panasonic has appointed Ingram Micro as a distributor for its Business Systems range of commercial signage displays and projectors.
The partnership will see Ingram Micro stocking the vendor's 103-inch full HD plasma display, as well as its high-performance business projectors.
Panasonic joins Sony, Toshiba, Acer, Epson and BenQ as vendors offered as part of Ingram Micro's consumer home and office solutions (CHOS) division.
Ingram Micro CHOS business unit manager, Jacqueline Bergin, said the Panasonic line presented the distributor with a suite of products that completed its portfolio and complemented the other vendors.
“We’re not looking for any other vendors in this space, we’re going to focus on taking what we’ve got to market,” Bergin said.
This is the first time Ingram Micro and Panasonic have had a relationship in Australia, and only extends to the public display and projector range at this stage.
Panasonic audio visual IT business development manager, Yvonne Zhao, said Ingram Micro was chosen because it had a digital signage-focused department.
"We have a few other distributors for the line, but they are more AV-oriented," she said. "Depending on how the business goes we might look at appointing other distributors in the future."
Zhao said the vendor would be active in supporting Ingram Micro on product road shows from next year, and participating in ExpoTech.
"This is quite a new product area, but it holds a great deal of strategic importance to us," he said.
