News Briefs: Quadtel, KAZ

Orrock becomes Quadtel's CEO

Just months after Quadtel bought Marketing Results, Rodney Orrock, former director and co-founder of the distribution outfit, has become the listed distributor's chief executive officer.

According to Quadtel, Orrock's appointment as CEO reflects the company's increased focus on the retail and mass-merchant channel. Former Quadtel CEO David Ramsay has been appointed executive chairman of the company.

With the slow uptake of broadband in Australia, Marketing Results has become the goose that laid the golden egg for Quadtel. Nevertheless, the broadband distributor remains committed to the cause. Ramsay's new role will be to identify emerging opportunities in the Australian broadband market.

A fleeting glimpse at KAZ

Listed services company KAZ Computer Services has landed a five-year facilities management contract with Lease Plan Australia - one of the country's largest fleet management companies.

The national contract will see KAZ provide both operational and technical support for Lease Plan's two IBM iSeries AS400 servers from its 24x7 data centres across the Asia-Pacific region.

KAZ won the monitoring, maintenance and management contract over a number of alternative international outsourcing services providers.

"We are thrilled to see companies such as LeasePlan continuing to recognise the strengths and efficiencies in outsourcing to a local provider like KAZ," KAZ managing director Peter Kazacos said.
