Tandberg Data appoints Multimedia Technology as distributor

 • 05 November, 2008 10:29

Sydney, November 5, 2008. Tandberg Data, a global supplier of data protection solutions, today announced the appointment of a new Australian distributor, Multimedia Technology Pty Ltd.

“As one of Australia’s premier national IT distributors, Multimedia Technology is ideally positioned to drive data storage sales,” says Mr. Lim Cheng Chuan, Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand at Tandberg Data. “Multimedia Technology is highly regarded in the industry as a long-established and well-funded company with a reputation for expertise and customer service that is second-to-none. We are delighted to welcome them on board.”

Multimedia Technology’s Marketing Manager, Philip Jackson, described Tandberg Data’s product range – from single drives to medium-sized tape libraries and disk-based products – as an ideal fit for the company’s marketing strategies.

“We were looking at offering solution sales supported by a number of our vendors, including Fujitsu servers and Cisco/Linksys networking solutions, that underpin the business continuity/disaster recovery environment,” said Jackson. “Tandberg Data’s technology is an excellent fit for our channel partners. We have people with the skill sets to support and market the technology and the knowledge base on how to present it to the marketplace.”

Mr Jackson said his company is working to align support and sales teams with Tandberg Data’s channel activities, including education and promotion activities which provide value propositions and will have a greater emphasis on product knowledge and applications. Over the coming months channel partners will be invited to attend education functions in which a range of end user activities will be outlined. Multimedia Technology pro-actively markets to over 5,000 channel partners, and has dedicated sales teams that support corporate, government, SMB/SME, education, consultants and system builders.

Mr Jackson, who is a 25-year industry veteran with high level data storage experience, believes the demand for storage will not be affected much by the current economic situation. While some organisations will extend their usual upgrade cycle, there is always a steady demand for data management and business continuity solutions. As budgets tighten, IT Managers will be under pressure to ensure that their backup strategies and business continuity plans are up-to-date and effective.
