Western Australia-based services provider, Empired (ASX: EPD), has landed its first major government outsourcing contract worth $11.65 million with Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA).

Empired WA state manager, Mark Young, said it was a significant win for the integrator.

“We do a lot of work in the resourcing sector and we wanted to balance that with work in the government space,” he said. “We’re going to be providing all of their internal IT support."

The three-year contract will see Empired provide MRWA with infrastructure outsourcing services including the provisioning of a centralised service desk, management of its computing infrastructure and remote monitoring of its network and application availability.

The integrator will also offer systems integration and enhancement services to MRWA. The contract also comes with an optional two-year extension.

The incumbent supplier was Alphawest. According to Young, there were five other WA-based integrators bidding for the contract.

As a result of the deal, Empired will be looking to hire 10 extra staff across desktop, service desk and service support roles. Empired has more than 210 employees on its books.

In September, Empired posted strong financial results pertaining to growth across its managed services business and acquisitions.
