Simms International is now the sole distributor for FileMaker, after the vendor dropped Ingram Micro in favour of a one distributor model.
Simms managing director, Danny Moore, said it has been a distributor for FileMaker box products since the beginning of the year, and was closely aligned with the Apple channel.
“It’s a very clear fit for us, and the partnership gives us a strong software play while improving the strength of our corporate channel,” Moore said.
“There’s not going to be any change to our market strategy as the sole distributor to FileMaker. We keep a narrow focus on our vendors, and will leverage it to continue to grow our retail and corporate business.”
FileMaker produces a range of desktop and server boxed software including FileMaker Pro 9, FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced, FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced. In addition Simms will distribute FileMaker’s personal database product, Bento.
Moore said Simms is working on forming partnerships with more vendors in the coming weeks.
