e-Learning to give thousands of Australian job seekers access to new employment services and training

<p>Leading Job Network provider Jobfind Centres announces nationwide Aspen-based project to improve clients’ opportunities – even in remote areas where employment services are scarce</p>
<p>Sydney, 13 April 2004: Jobfind Centres, a Job Network provider within the Commonwealth Government and Australia’s leading provider of employment services, has selected Click2learn’s Aspen Enterprise Productivity Suite to dramatically improve training services – and the chances of employment success – for thousands of job seekers throughout Australia.</p>
<p>Jobfind Centres is one of the largest private providers within the Federal Government’s Job Network, and offers a range of public services to help job seekers enter the workforce. These include Job Search Training, Job Placement and Intensive Customised Assistance. Since 1998, Jobfind has placed over 45,000 clients into employment.</p>
<p>Click2learn Asia Pacific is partnering with Jobfind Centres to develop, deliver and manage a wide selection of personal training and education services. These include 250 technical courses, covering subjects ranging from basic computer and internet skills through to advanced computer applications, and vocational training such as improving interviewing skills and resume preparation.</p>
<p>This innovative application, based on the Aspen Learning Management Server (LMS) version 2.5 and hosted by Click2learn, is expected to go live by the end of June 2004 and reach up to 20,000 users in its first year of operation.</p>

In addition to consolidating learning for thousands of job seekers, the solution will provide broad-scale training and just-in-time information to Jobfind staff. This will enhance staff performance and productivity on a day-to-day basis, and ensure all of Jobfind Centres’ communication, performance and training-related activities are effectively integrated and managed.</p>
<p>“Aspen will improve collaboration and sharing of resources, as well as enhance utilisation of training and knowledge assets, which will dramatically boost the level of our services to job seekers,” said Jobfind Centres’ Training Services Coordinator, Julia Kennedy.</p>
<p>- Improved parity of service for remote job seekers
The Aspen system will be a tremendous benefit to job seekers in remote Australia, including Indigenous communities, where the lack of access to support can prevent job seekers from meeting their full career potential.</p>
<p>“State-of-the-art resources – and new opportunities for employment and career development – will now be available to job seekers who have not had access to the same training opportunities and employment services enjoyed by those in, say, Sydney or Melbourne,” Ms Kennedy said.</p>
<p>“Being able to remove that disparity is especially satisfying,” she said.</p>
<p>As well as improving Jobfind Centres’ ability to serve job seekers, the company sees further benefits, Ms Kennedy said.</p>
<p>“Aspen lets us provide career-enhancing training and development programs to our own employees – whether they’re in remote, or outreach, Jobfind Centres such as in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, or in major cities. Across the entire Jobfind Centre organisation, we expect the new system will improve employee satisfaction and support lower staff turnover,” said Ms Kennedy.</p>
