<p>VERITAS boosts its Australia &amp; New Zealand executive team</p>
<p>Creation of two new roles designed to grow customer and partner relationships
as Veritas names acting Managing Director</p>
<p>Sydney, Australia, February 11, 2004 — Supporting its go-to-market strategy for 2004, VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS), the leading provider of enterprise storage software, has introduced two new roles to its executive team - Head of Channels, Australia &amp; New Zealand, and Regional Sales Director, Australia &amp; New Zealand.</p>
<p>Commenting on the appointments, Steven Leonard, Senior Vice President and General Manager for VERITAS Software Asia Pacific &amp; Japan said, “I am delighted to welcome Bruce Lakin to VERITAS as Head of Channels and Craig Scroggie as Regional Sales Director.</p>
<p>“Bruce has many years of general management experience, and with his capabilities in developing and managing businesses, he has also been appointed as Acting Managing Director Australia &amp; New Zealand, assuming responsibility for the successful day-to-day operation of the VERITAS business in Australia and New Zealand.</p>
<p>“Together, Bruce and Craig bring significant industry knowledge and experience to the region, and I am confident their leadership will grow our customer and channel partner relationships as we focus on our company strategy of enabling utility computing through software,” said Leonard.</p>
<p>As Head of Channels, Australia &amp; New Zealand, Lakin will be responsible for establishing the strategic direction for the channel, including developing new partnerships and enhancing existing partner relationships, as well as leading his team in deploying resources to support the channel and Asia Pacific &amp; Japan initiatives.</p>
<p>Lakin has a history of achieving significant business improvement in both local and international operations with leading companies such as Prophecy International, Toshiba Australia, Novell Asia Pacific, WordPerfect Corporation, and Unisys South Pacific. He has received numerous high-level sales recognition and awards and is currently a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.</p>
<p>Craig Scroggie also joins VERITAS as Regional Sales Director, Australia and New Zealand, and will work with the sales team to deliver solutions that provide customers with availability and performance of applications, and automation of IT operations. Scroggie will also develop strategies to drive ANZ revenue growth through the company’s inside sales organisation, which is committed to identifying opportunities and delivering solutions for existing customers.</p>
<p>Prior to joining VERITAS, Scroggie served as National Sales Manager at Computer Associates where he was responsible for CA’s national go-to-market strategy in its Data Protection business.  In previous roles Scroggie managed the channel partner operations and programs for EMC and the sales business of Fujitsu Australia.</p>
