Audio manufacturer, Pioneer Electronics Australia, has cut as many as 60 staff, industry sources claim.
A former staff member confirmed redundancies were made early this week due to poor business results but could not specify how many of the roughly 100 staff were involved. CFO, Bruce Blythe, denied the claimed figure was accurate.
“I’m not prepared to say anything until we’ve spoken to staff,” he said. “If we’re changing things we need to talk to the people involved first.”
The vendor appointed a new managing director, Toshio Izumi, a couple of weeks ago. He replaced outgoing managing director, Yasuo Sakuma, who retired due to health reasons from Pioneer Corporation this year.
Pioneer's head office is located in Braeside, Victoria, and its spare parts department in Victorian suburb, Mulgrave. The company also has a warehouse in Brisbane, a sales and marketing operation in Newington, NSW, a mobile sales force in Adelaide, and is represented by distributor, GBI, in Perth.
