Datacom management and staff have gone into mourning following the death of colleague and friend, Aiden Hartnett, on Tuesday, September 23.
The IT industry veteran passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 53 years of age.
English by birth, Hartnett came to Australia in 1991 and took up a technical services manager’s role with Ipex in Brisbane, Queensland. In 1993, he joined IBM and Compaq reseller, Business Affairs, as services manager, eventually moving into sales. Through acquisition Hartnett became a valued member of the Datacom team in 2005.
Datacom Queensland director, Clark Hobson, said Hartnett had was well known by his customers, suppliers and colleagues as a true professional in his field.
“His friends, colleagues, customers and family have been comforted by the many expressions of sympathy that have come from many people in the IT profession in Queensland who knew or worked with him over the past 17 years,” he said.
Hartnett is survived by his wife and two children. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 29, at Tallowood Chapel, Tallowood Drive, Deception Bay, at 2pm.
