Unisys appoints new Australian chief

David Barnes brought on to continue focus on financial services, public sector and transportation verticals

Technology services outsourcer, Unisys, has brought David Barnes on as its new A/NZ managing director.

Barnes replaces Steve Parker, who left the company in January to join Oakton as its chief operating office. In the interim, Andrew Barkla had assumed the A/NZ management role in addition to his role as vice-president and general manager, Unisys Asia-Pacific, a Unisys spokesperson said.

Barnes’ responsibilities include the operations, customer satisfaction and overall financial performance of the local business.

“Barnes is responsible for Unisys business in Australia and New Zealand and also has input into the Asia-Pacific operations. He reports to Barkla,” the spokesperson said.

In a release, Barkla said Barnes would continue its market strategies around financial services, public sector and transportation segments.

Prior to joining Unisys, Barnes was SAP's chief operating officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He was previously chief financial officer in various locations including A/NZ.
