Just a year after quitting Trend Micro for McAfee, former SMB director, Dave Patnaik has switched back to Trend Micro as managing director.
Sources close to the security software company told ARN earlier this week that Patnaik had already assumed the role at Trend. In a statement released by the vendor today, he stressed Trend's Smart Protection Network for online security as a key focus.
"I feel very privileged to be able to drive Trend Micro at a local level so that we can maintain leading position in the Australian market," Patnaik said in a statement.
Patnaik initially joined Trend Micro as SMB director in May 2006 after the security vendor restructured its local team into SMB, enterprise and consumer divisions. At that time long serving country manager, Chris Poulos, was made redundant. Since then, the divisions have reported to regional management.
Prior to joining Trend, Patnaik held a variety of IT roles at Netgear and Tech Pacific. He left Trend to become McAfee’s Asia-Pacific general manager of mid-market in July last year.
McAfee marketing director, Allan Bell, said its recently appointed director of inside sales and renewals, Rhonda Robati, would now assume most of Patnaik's responsibilities. Prior to joining in July, Robarti held roles with Insight in Europe and Asia-Pacific focusing on mid-market sales.
"Rhonda's responsibility is around best practices around Asia-Pacific with a mid-market focus," Bell said. "There was some overlap between Rhonda and Dave's roles."
Patnaik’s return to Trend comes as channel marketing manager, Marie Evans, heads for the exit.
Evans said she would take a break before looking at other opportunities. Her last day at Trend is September 19. No replacement has been announced.
