Messaging security vendor, Proofpoint, has signed a distribution deal with Lan 1 to expand its local presence.
Proofpoint Asia-Pacific director of sales, Gerry Tucker, said Lan 1 had a national presence in all the major business centres the vendor wanted to reach into such as Queensland and WA.
“It’s an enhancement of our channel capability and we’re providing additional resources,” he said. “We’re looking to put a lot of our effort into enterprise market the coming 12 -18 months.”
Lan 1 strategic national business development manager, Rob Harkness, said the new deal would broaden its approach in the network security market.
“It will give us a lot more coverage in the enterprise space,” he said. “Proofpoint offers some good advantages in what it provides and it’s not just the simple process in-bound email but also out-bound, data loss prevention, secure file transfer and email encryption.”
Enterprise, finance and education organisations are target markets, Harkness said.
“Partners that have the ability to sell this type of solution and training will be an important part of the whole approach,” he said.
Lan 1 and Proofpoint will organise a roadshow for resellers in October. Earlier this month, Proofpoint launched a new partner program to help resellers enhance their technical skills.
