ASX-listed distributor, Cellnet (ASX:CLT) is taking its first steps into the gaming market through a partnership with accessories vendor dreamGear.
dreamGear produce a range of products for the current generation of gaming consoles, including the Nintendo DS and Wii, Playstation 3 and PSP and Xbox 360. The vendor will sit underneath Cellnet’s retail division.
Cellnet marketing manager – retail division, Kylie Jones, said the vendor was the first of its kind in the distributor’s portfolio.
“dreamGear is a way for us to discover if we can provide more products of this type to the market,” Jones said. “We’ve been looking for an affordable gaming accessories vendor, and with the launch of the new set of consoles there is room in the market for the expanded range of accessories that it provides.”
The vendor also produces a range of mp3 accessories, which Jones said would not be carried by Cellnet initially. Cellnet’s other main focus in retail is continuing to built its telco accessories presence, Jones said. “Our goal is to bring in a range of affordable but good quality products and lookout for growth areas,” she said. “We want to get the Cellnet branding through to the retail areas.”
