Computer retailers were given an extra incentive to sell Compaq Presarios over Christmas -- the chance to win a BMW Z3 for the weekend.
The promotion, which was run in combination with a consumer competition to win a BMW X5, attracted entries from all around the country. Retailers received a cheque up to the value of $20 for every Compaq Presario notebook or desktop sold. The cheque claims went into the draw to win the car for the weekend. The promotion, which ran for two months from November to January, attracted more than 5,200 entries.
Compaq gave five BMW weekends away to its retailers. The winners were Troy Hoolihan from Domayne in Gosford West in NSW; George Zipevski from Dick Smith in Altona, Victoria; Harvey Park from Harvey Norman in Everton Park, Queensland; Mark Pollard from Harvey Norman in Enfield, South Australia; and Steve Ellis from Retravision in Canning Vale, Western Australia.
