Samsung introduces Elite partner training

New training courses designed to help partners sell both boxes and solutions and combat the incresingly-small margins and profit available to the channel

Samsung's IT Elite authorised reseller program now includes a new training regime.

Samsung has expanded its six-month-old IT Elite authorised reseller program to include a new training regime.

The tiered SP3 education program is focused on solution-based sales and has a number of certification and engagement levels covering print integration, workflow applications and end-to-end management.

Samsung IT division national marketing manager, Anthony Toope, said the optional program was aimed at building out its IT Elite program. Resellers that complete the training will become SP3 certified

“We’re 100 per cent partner orientated, so we’re looking to skill up our channel partners to sell both hardware and solutions,” he said. “Customers are looking for more than just a box with print, so it’s important that our partners are able to offer solutions.”

Samsung is offering the program free of charge to all partners, Toope said.

The education piece forms part of a $500,000 investment by the vendor into its IT Elite program.

“We encourage all our partners to attend. We see that the market is strong, but more and more vendors are selling direct, which is putting a lot of pressure on the channel in terms of margin and profit,” Toope said. “Part of the reason for this program is that we want to show that we support our channel.”

The vendor has also added a number of new features to the IT Elite program including dedicated special pricing, promotions and offers in order to gain new business wins. Since its launch in March, 140 resellers have signed up.
