Unixpac has become the local distributor for US vendor, Splunk. The deal represents the security distributor’s fifth vendor partnership in recent months.

Splunk’s software aims to provide IT administrators with the ability to search through logs and IT data in real-time.

Unixpac managing director, Tom Piotrowski, likened it to Google search, with Splunk searching IT data, rather than the Internet.

“It’s an important tool for people who use any appliances that generate a great number of logs. IT professionals can spend a lot of time sifting through data, which is where Splunk can save time,” he said.

Piotrowski said the vendor has been on the market for a long time and was previously sold direct through a regional manager based in Hong Kong.

“It’s a highly scalable solution but we’re expecting most interest from organisations with large networks. Telcos, banks and government, for example,” Piotrowski said. “We’ve already seen interest in some of our resellers who specialist in network and data integrity and compliance, where many of our partners are picking up business at the moment.”

Unixpac has formed partnerships with a number of new vendors recently including Solera Networks, Breach, TriGeo and Bivio.

“It’s typical of us to refresh our portfolio at the beginning of the new financial year, so now the focus is on getting the new products into the market,” Piotrowski said.
