4iT expands with three tier channel stategy

Melbourne-based distributor 4iT has opened a Sydney office and appointed a NSW state manager in an effort to bolster sales of its accounting and PDA software applications.

The company is the exclusive distributor of Profax accounting software in Australia and has set up a three-tier channel strategy to encourage additional resellers to join the distributor's ranks. 4iT has signed up six partners on the east coast and is looking for additional resellers, according to a statement released by the company.

David Fenton-Wells, NSW state manager of 4iT, told ARN the distributor intends to partner with channel companies that can provide customers with installation, training and support, and resellers that will focus on product sales alone.

New Zealand-based Profax develops small and medium enterprise accounting software that Fenton-Wells said is suited to companies that have outgrown "off-the-shelf" accounting packages like MYOB and Quicken, but are not prepared to pay for "high-level" enterprise accounting suites.

Profax features 12 accounting modules including accounts receivable, inventory control, BAS/GST and general ledger. A single installation of Profax costs $5000-$10,000 and can be used by a customer's regional offices via an ASP (application service provider) model, with the software hosted on servers at the customer's head office.

4iT also distributes applications for handheld devices developed by IT Link. SalesLink Mobile and StockLink Mobile applications enable PDAs to process sales entries and stocktakes in the field. The applications synchronise with a range of accounting packages such as Profax, ACCPAC, Attaché, MYOB and others.

4iT's new channel program

Gold Channel Partners: Required to sell a certain number of modules, Gold Partners are eligible for significant product discounts and rebates, and free training.

Silver Channel Partners: Required to sell fewer modules, Silver Partners are eligible for product discounts and rebates.

Bronze Channel Partners: No requirement to meet revenue targets, Bronze partners are eligible to receive product discounts.

Reseller Reward System: Registered resellers receive a margin on products sold.
