Melbourne-based web development outfit, GeekIT Group, is making a foray into the accessories market and is on the hunt for specialist distributors.
The company has produced its own portfolio of accessories including a range of notebook and camera cases, MP3 accessories and AV cables.
CEO, Mary Henderson, said she would like to have one mainstream and two specialised distributors to take GeekIT’s accessory range to the channel.
“We want to partner with a distributor that understands this space,” she said. “We’ve got very specific products and the Apple and AV channel are key areas for us.”
Henderson said she wanted to attract 20 retailers, Apple dealers and resellers that dabble in the corporate, government and education space.
“This is a huge opportunity and requirement for notebook bags in the education space,” she said.
Partners will be able to access marketing material, attractive margins and rebates, she said.
“We can work together with partners to provide exclusive bundling and packaging opportunities, instead of just giving them a bag and that’s it,” Henderson said. “We also want to work with distributors to create programs that are right for their customers.”
Henderson plans to launch the accessories into the retail space by January and is also developing a ladies notebook bag range that will be available in the second quarter of 2009.
