Snap Server ES12

Snap Server ES12 is a mid-range NAS

product targeted at enterprise departments and workgroups, as well as service providers, educational institutions and large government agencies.

The Snap Server ES12 is designed to offer customers a more cost-effective alternative to complex server-attached RAID and traditional NT-class servers, providing a low initial acquisition cost and low total cost of ownership.

Featuring a 900 GB total capacity and 750GB available in RAID 5 configuration, The Snap Server ES12 a rack mount form, hot-swappable hard drives, redundant and hot-swappable fans and power supplies. It also offers RAID 5, 1 and 0 support, 10/100 Gigabit Ethernet, cross platform file sharing support, file- and directory-level security integration and remote monitoring through Web-based GUI or SNMP.

Iomega QuikSync 3

Iomega recently launched the DataSafe series of midrange 160GB and 320GB NAS Servers, developed in conjunction with storage vendor Maxtor.

Iomega DataSafe NAS servers are aimed at the traditional file server market, and are designed to provide reliable, cross-platform file serving without the expense and complexity of general-purpose servers.

A 50-seat licence for Iomega QuikSync 3 automatic client backup software, will be included with Iomega DataSafe 320GB NAS servers, allowing IT professionals to implement automatic backup through their network. A 20-seat licence will be included with the 160GB NAS server.

Quiksync 3 automatically backs up saved files to a separate backup location such as a DataSafe server and enables end users to schedule convenient backups that require no network downtime.

Snap Server 4100

The Snap Server 4100 is available in 160 GB or 300 GB, and is the ideal alternative to deploying a traditional large capacity file server.

According to Snap Appliance, independent testing by eTesting labs found the Snap Server 4100 outperformed its workgroup NAS competition in throughput and response time.

The product features cross-platform file sharing, rapid installation, RAID 5, 1, 0, rack mount form, SNMP support, user share and file-level security, a low total cost of ownership and no additional software.

The Snap Server 4100 integrates with Microsoft NT and Novell NetWare software, and supports a range of Microsoft, Novell, SunOS & Solaris, SCO UNIX and OpenDesktop, Red Hat Linux, and Macintosh clients.

Raidtec RAIDserver V12

The RAIDserver V12 utilises the 64-bit PowerPC 750 CPU with 1 MB L2 cache, 18 MB Flash, and from 64 to 512 MB RAM. Other hardware features include two Ultra2 LVD SCSI channels, 2 - 10/100 Ethernet Channels, and 2 Serial ports.

The system software is based on the Raidtec's FlashLinux Operating System which has been recently re-released in a 1.1 version, an enhanced embedded version of the Linux 2.2 kernel that is stored in less than half of the 18 MB on- board Flash.

The RAIDserver V12 provides integrated web-managed tape backup services support full, incremental, custom backup, and a browser interface.

NetApp F85

The NetApp F85 filer is designed to offer highly capable yet economical data storage solution for remote or branch offices, workgroups, and small department or businesses.

The NetAppF85 is based on the same architure Network Appliance uses for it's enterprise class offerings. Delivering fast access to up to 648GB of raw storage for user and application data. The NetApp F85 also features heterogeneous connectivity between UNIX and Windows NT systems.

IBM - Network Attached

Storage 300G

The 300G series is a NAS appliance that connects clients and servers on an IP network to Fibre Channel storage, bridging the gap between LAN storage needs and SAN storage capacities. IBM Network Attached Storage 300G products are designed to integrate NAS and SAN solutions enterprise-wide.

The range includes preconfigured and tuned storage-specific tasks, dedicated appliance with a software and application suite, fault-tolerance and dual engines.
