itX has added storage virtualisation software vendor, DataCore, to its virtualisation products portfolio.
itX general manager, Greg Newham, said the deal helped complete the distributor's virtualisation suite. DataCore produces a range of storage virtualisation, storage networking and storage management products. itX's virtualisation portfolio currently consists of Citrix, VMware and Vizioncore.
"We've got it covered from the application desktop perspective through to servers and now storage," Newham said.
The DataCore offering will initially be targeted at Citrix partners. Newham said itX has more than 500 partners that serve as potential prospects for DataCore.
"The virtualisation story cuts across all verticals. There's a big trend at the moment with SMBs picking up virtualisation technology," he said.
The DataCore range also complements itX's Sun Microsystems, Oracle and Red Hat relationships.
"We'll continue to look for solutions to enhance our product offerings," Newham said.
itX will sit alongside Infotronics in the vendor's distribution line-up.
DataCore Australia director, David Bull, said itX had been recommended as a distribution partner by Citrix.
Partners will be offered access to lead generation, deal registration and DataCore's comprehensive training program, which includes the ability to wrap services around the software, Bull said.
"We're hardware independent and vendor agnostic, so we can manage storage on any hardware platform," he said.
Several months ago DataCore participate in Ingram Micro's ExpoTech tradeshow and was expected to sign on with the distributor.
Ingram virtualisation practice manager, Peter Pollari, confirmed it had chosen not to represent the vendor.
