Australian managed service provider Zento has bolstered its stronghold over the MSP market following its appointment as a Trend Micro Premier Partner.
As the second Trend Micro Premier Partner in Australia, Zento, a division of Powerlan, will sell Trend Micro products and managed services on a monthly subscription basis.
According to Zento CEO Arthur Argyropolous, the MSP has the freedom to onsell any of Trend Micro products, but will particularly focus on supplying Trend Micro's gateway and desktop antivirus products and as its antivirus management platform.
Argyropolous said that its new relationship with Trend Micro would not affect its current partnerships with its other antivirus vendor partner, McAfee, even though it will represent an equal percentage of the MSP's business.
"I think everyone has a mature approach in dealing with these things. All of the vendors know we are going to be having multiple relationships with vendors and that our ultimate priority is to provide the solution that best fits the customer," he said. "In order to provide that service, you need to represent more than just one vendor's product."
To avoid potential conflict, Argyropolous said Zento would ideally choose to supply antivirus products from Trend Micro and McAfee that don't overlap and that offer different strengths in different fields.
Although the MSP will not be hiring any additional staff directly as a result of its appointment as a Premier partner, Argyropolous said it will be adding to its data centre infrastructure to ensure it maintains the same level of service to existing partners.
"As a 14-year HP veteran, I've learnt that the only way you can build scalability is through building processes," he said. "So we've built a number of different processes to ensure that we can meet our service-level agreements and we're always reviewing those. Our aim is to get as much out of the infrastructure as we can."
Argyropolous said that Zento's 24x7x365 service is unique in Australia and that helped it secure the Trend Micro appointment. Trend Micro managing director Chris Poulos agreed. "The cornerstone of Zento's success is its security operations centre, which operates 24x7. This level of support is mandatory for an organisation to effectively monitor and manage antivirus services."
Zento is currently endorsed by Trend Micro, Check Point, McAfee, ISS, F5, Intrusion and Netscreen.
