Application software vendor, Citrix, has no plans to change its A/NZ distribution model despite a US decision to adopt a single distribution agreement.
Citrix Australia partner manager, Dean Vaughan, said it was happy with its current reseller and distribution strategy in both Australia and New Zealand. Citrix products are distributed in Australia by Express Data and itX, and by Express Data in New Zealand.
"There are no current intentions to make changes in the A/NZ market," Vaughan said. "Citrix has a strong agenda of letting the different regions run their own businesses - my understanding is that this is a North American decision only."
Last week, Citrix's US team announced it would drop Avnet, Alternative Technology and Tech Data in favour of a sole distribution agreement with Ingram Micro. The decision covers its entire product range and will affect about 1900 North American resellers. The change comes into affect on August 30.
In its press statement, Citrix executives claimed the new distribution strategy would allow it to drive business growth and expand its channel programs.
"Really it comes down to what's right for that market. When you choose distributors you want to get the balance right and ensure there's enough business for partners to want to invest in and grow. Too many distributors means there isn't enough for them," Vaughan said.
"I see two as the right number of distributors for us in Australia."
