Queensland integrator acquires web development company

Ordyss increases management staff numbers and looks to buy more organisations

Queensland integrator, Ordyss, has acquired boutique web development company, Logisto, and bolstered its management team and staff numbers.

Managing director, Keith Lavelle, said the acquisition of Logisto offered another business line for Ordyss to take to the market. Logisto develops its own content management system, which allows them to reach deeply into an organisations content system using both internal and external web technology.

"We can become more of a one-stop [integration] shop," he said.

As a result of the deal, Ordyss will add up to 300 clients to its books. Lavelle said it had more acquisitions on the cards that would focus on different business lines.

"Unified communications will be the next stop for us," he said.

Ordyss has also bumped up its management team by four. New recruits include Steven Jones as professional services manager; Baillie Hutchinson, managed services manager; Rob Mair, finance director; and Alan Salvo, operations manager role. The integrator has added 17 new staff to its organisation since June and now has 36 employees.

Lavelle said the new management appointments were made on the back of winning a major facilities maintenance contract with Gallagher Bassett Services and experiencing strong growth on the services side of the business. Ordyss assumed responsibility for Gallagher's hardware and software procurement, desktop management, helpdesk, project delivery and services. Gallagher has retained its internal security team.

"The appointment of the management team was to allow for the controlled growth of the organisation," Lavelle said. "We've formed an exec team where basically an executive officer sits at the top of each business line."

Jones will be responsible for the professional services arm of the business, which encompasses its software development and facilities management arm. He previously ran his own freelance consultancy company before joining Ordyss.

Hutchinson will look after the managed services business that entails its outsourced helpdesk and network monitoring function. He was previously the CIO of the Coffee Club. Salvo has previously worked for Assured IT.
