The NVR-1012 is an instant surveillance system that provides professional-grade live video recording and real-time remote monitoring and playback. The system is based on a Linux OS. Configuration, recording and monitoring functions of the network video recorder are carried out through Internet Explorer with no software installation required. The NVR-1012 supports high resolution MPEG-4 and MJPEG recording of up to four channels simultaneously and the server supports up to a 1TB internal SATA hard drive. Storage capacity can be expanded to 2TB via an eSATA connection to an external hard drive for long-term recording. The vendor claims the energy saving design of NVR-1012 enables non-stop system operation 24 x 7 at the power consumption of less than 18W, which represents more power savings than an energy-saving bulb. The NVR-1012 is equipped with a low-noise fan for quiet operation and has an instant alarm feature with various alarm types for capture. QNAP also claims the NVR-1012 offers trouble-free set-up and allows administrators to manage access rights for up to 32 users.

Compro VideoMate Vista E900F

The VideoMate Vista E900F is a PCIE interface, dual DVB-T and analogue TV/FM card with hardware MPEG-4 encoder. The MPEG-4 hardware encoder can compress video segments into small sizes while still offering great image quality video, Compro claims. This means the viewer is able to record two different TV programs at the same time. Its built-in professional 2D+3D Y/C separation and noise reduction chip is designed to deliver clear and sharp images. Picture In/Out functions allow users to watch live TV and playback video files at the same time, while the Video Desktop function lets users stream live TV shows as wallpaper while using other applications simultaneously. The card is fully compatible with Windows Vista and offers a Vista Gadget tool which allows users to watch live TV, check schedules and access playback lists directly on the Vista sidebar. It also comes bundled with Microsoft certified remote control for Windows Media Centre of Vista Premium/Ultimate and ComproDTV 4 and offers straight-to-disc recording for analogue and digital TV.

HP Officejet Pro L7590 MFP

This multifunction inkjet printer (MFP) aims to deliver high quality results at quick speeds. Equipped with built-in networking functionality, memory card slots and two-sided printing, the L7590 has a draft print speed of up to 35ppm in mono, or 34ppm in colour. The printer has been designed for small networks and with the optional HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit, can be accessed wirelessly. The L7590 has the ability to fax, scan and copy with a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) that allows two-sided scanning. The printer can handle high volume prints with the optional 350-sheet paper tray for a total print capacity of 600 sheets. It has a monthly duty cycle of up to 7500 pages and 192MHz processor speed. The L7590's scan function offers up to 2400 dpi CCD optical resolution and allows users to scan documents directly to memory cards and USB storage devices as a JPG or PDF. The MFP has a fax memory of up to 125 pages to minimise lost faxes and includes a junk fax barrier to help eliminate unwanted faxes and takes four cartridges. The MFP is Energy Star qualified.
