Saratoga Distribution has been appointed as master distributor of LapLink products in Australia and New Zealand, replacing former LapLink distributor Pacific Mobile Link.
Saratoga's managing director, Ivar Stanelis, was uncertain about why LapLink chose to replace Pacific Mobile Net.
"I understand that Pacific Mobile Net was having financial difficulties, but I don't know how it washed up," Stanelis said. "We used to be a sub-distributor of Pacific Mobile and when it seemed to be fading out of the picture, we approached LapLink and won the contract."
As master distributor, Saratoga is the exclusive distributor of LapLink products in Australia and New Zealand for a minimum of 12 months. As part of the agreement, the Adelaide-based distributor must meet certain targets set by the vendor.
According to Stanelis, meeting those targets won't present a problem. "In the first three months of dealing with them, we've doubled their targets for the first quarter," he said.
Saratoga distributes the LapLink Gold V11, remote control and remote access software, as well as the LapLink PCSync V3 and the LapLink PDAsync software.
"I can see this product as being a star in the future," Stanelis said. "It has done very well all over the world. I expect LapLink Gold Version 11 and PDAsync to do particularly well in the Australian market."
The LapLink product range represents about 10 per cent of Saratoga's entire product offering, Stanelis said, adding that he expects it grow substantially.
"We're going to bring LapLink training and MailMarshal training in to the country, probably by the second half of the year."
