Local DLO distributor, iWorld, has announced a partnership with ASX-listed Cellnet (ASX: CLT) to target the telecommunications market for iPhone accessories.
Under the arrangement, Cellnet will take the DLO range to telco channels while iWorld distributes to the retail market. iWorld managing director, Chad DeClase, said Cellnet was chosen based on its reach into the telco market.
"We've never dealt with telco channels before and we found it was something we couldn't handle, which is why we looked for a partner for that space," he said.
"This is a big deal for us. The numbers coming through already are large and there are a lot of telcos out there. We're getting stuck in early with advertising and marketing and we're working on developing bundles with both Optus and Vodaphone."
Cellnet marketing manager, Geoff Steele, said the distributor became interested after one of its largest customers expressed interest in DLO and thought the vendor would be a good fit for its portfolio.
The DLO range will sit beside Belkin and Mercury AV products carried by Cellnet. Steele said the DLO range wouldn't compete with the other products.
"DLO products have a fashionable branding and are positioned above the others," he said.
Steele said Cellnet had no plans to bring on any other vendors in the space for its telco business, which he said accounted for about one-third of its business.
