Backup vendor kick-starts channel strategy

Carbonite appoints Arthur Koulianos to develop a channel strategy and take the product to the consumer and SMB markets

Backup solutions vendor, Carbonite, has recruited Arthur Koulianos as product manger as it kick-starts a local distribution strategy.

Introduced in March this year, the Carbonite Online PCBackup solution is a tool allowing users to install a client that automatically backs up data located in Carbonite's servers in the US.

Koulianos and company managing director, Peter Cameron, are the first two local staff. Koulianos said Carbonite Australia has been set up as a distribution and marketing arm for the product with all support being held in America.

His first point of focus is to develop a local marketing plan.

"I'm going to get reseller affiliate programs up and running in the next month and I'm also looking for opportunities to form distribution partnerships like the one we have with Packard Bell in Europe," he said.

Koulianos identified ISPs and other services organisations as ideal partnership candidates.

"The generalised nature of the product means I'll be targeting a general consumer base and SMB customers," he said.

Koulianos joins Carbonite from McMillan Shakespeare Australia and has previously worked with Boss Software International, Transurban Group and IOOF.
