Education solutions vendor, Promethean, has appointed its first Australian general manager to help expand its local presence.
Promethean's Activclassroom solution integrates standards-based resources, formative assessment, training and dynamic instructional tools into a classroom delivery system. New recruit, Paul Klotz, said his first point of focus was to develop and grow Promethean's channel in light of its previous partner, Commander, undergoing restructuring.
"Commander's restructuring allowed us to refocus. We've formed partnerships with DH Technology and ASI Solutions and we want to develop a true national footprint. At the same time we don't want to flood the market with resellers. We want to remain fairly niche," Klotz said.
Klotz's interest in the company was sparked as a father with a personal interest in the challenges facing the education industry.
"I've spent the last 25-30 years in IT, looking for new trends and opportunities. I feel Promethean provides the total turnkey solution," he said.
Promethean has recently won a contract with the NSW department of education to provide software across the state.
Klotz said the vendor was also chasing tender opportunities in Queensland and Victoria with Catholic education and other independent schools. It is looking into opportunities in the Pacific Islands.
He said another two staff will be appointed over the next month.
"We'll be appointing somebody to help with the channel management side of things and someone as a training and learning advisor," Klotz said.
