Veritas Software has given the channel a slew of new storage management products designed for the Microsoft Windows 2000 server platform.
The integrated suite of products provides companies operating on the Windows 2000 platform with the same set of storage management and availability features that Veritas provides for the Unix environment.
Veritas is banking on the Windows 2000 environment as being the enterprise sweet spot and industry experts such as IDC agree that there is an industry-wide shift by enterprise companies to Windows platforms.
Nick Blozan, Veritas's national distribution manager, said Veritas now has a product line-up that "fits" the type of customer the majority of the channel is selling into.
Veritas's flagship Volume Manager storage management software for Windows 2000 now offers expanded software tools such as volume replication, clustering, "snapshot" capabilities, and a management interface for Microsoft Exchange, according to the company.
Until now, only backup and volume management tools had been available from Veritas for Windows 2000 customers.
To offload backup and analysis from primary servers, the Veritas FlashSnap option creates point-in-time "snapshot" copies of data that can be placed on another server, a statement released by the company said.
Veritas Volume Replicator replicates data to remote servers, while the Veritas Global Cluster Manager monitors clusters featuring Veritas Cluster Server and migrates applications between sites automatically.
Also included in the new suite of products is the Veritas Edition for Microsoft Exchange 2000, which is designed to handle the management, storage and recoverability of Microsoft Exchange.
