Uni network calls for systems integrators

Australian Advanced Research Network (AARNet) has put out a request for proposal (RFP) for the implementation of the Sydney Basin Fibre Network project on behalf of five universities in Sydney. Sydney University, UNSW, UTS, Macquarie and UWS were awarded a grant by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs last year to build a high-speed fibre network between each institution. The network is intended to link research facilities and enable collaborative teaching exercises. Installation will begin in early 2002, with systems integrators required to submit RFPs by December 24.
