• 01 May, 2007 09:15

NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR) announced lifetime hardware warranties for its ProSafe family of business-class networking products at the opening of CeBIT 2007 in Sydney today.

The warranty will apply to all NETGEAR ProSafe products shipping worldwide after May 1, 2007 and will cover hardware replacement, including fan and internal power supply failures, for as long as the customer owns the product.

The new warranty applies to the entire ProSafe product family including NETGEAR's Layer 2 and Layer 3 managed switches, smart switches, unmanaged switches, wired and wireless VPN firewalls, VPN gateways, SSL VPN concentrators and wireless access points.

"While the functionality, value and ease-of-use of networking products are all critical to businesses, perhaps even more important is the strength of the vendors' technical support program and product warranties," said NETGEAR's director of retail and distribution, Sue Ponder.

"Businesses look to vendors to provide networking solutions that meet their needs today, while providing them with the scalability to grow their network in the future. This new lifetime warranty program will undoubtedly make NETGEAR an even more popular solution for businesses.

"NETGEAR has enjoyed great success and has achieved market leadership in the SMB segment due to its dedication to delivering affordable, feature-rich networking solutions that help support the demanding needs of fast-growing businesses.

"Thanks to innovative product offerings like our Stackable Smart Switches, Power-over-Ethernet switches, SSL concentrators and business-class wireless access points, more and more businesses are selecting NETGEAR for their networking needs. Even though our products are among the most reliable in the industry, our new Lifetime Warranty gives users the peace-of-mind that they can build a NETGEAR-based infrastructure that will not only support future growth, but that their investment will be protected for a lifetime."

With recent deployments at organisations such as IMB, St Joseph's College, Krome and the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, NETGEAR Australia continues to meet the networking needs of local organisations demonstrate with its market-leading ProSafe range.

NETGEAR recently announced the appointment of distributor NetWorld Systems who is working to educate resellers on the robust functionality, ease-of-use and reliability of the ProSafe product family. This partnership has given NETGEAR another channel to communicate with the Australian business market regarding the value proposition their complete networking solution presents. The lifetime warranty adds another plank to this proposition.

NETGEAR is exhibiting its latest range of ProSafe switches, access points VPN gateways and firewalls at CeBIT 2007. Included in the showcase (the Sydney Convention Centre, halls 2-5, stand F30) will be the WAG102 ProSafe Dual Band Wireless Access Point, which delivers a secure, reliable high-performance wireless local area network. Supporting up to 128 simultaneous wireless clients and client types within the same coverage area, the access point incorporates robust security measures and is simple to configure and manage.

NETGEAR, who was the first vendor in Australia to launch a Gigabit Smart Stackable Switch, will demonstrate the GS724TS and GS748TS ProSafe Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches, which serve rapidly growing businesses requiring full-featured network switches. The ProSafe Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch comes with 24 or 48 Gigabit ports with four shared SFP ports that provide high performance for bandwidth-intensive applications. The switches are also equipped with highly advanced features such as Access Control Lists, 802.1x port authentication, enhanced QoS, rate limiting and IGMP Snooping.

NETGEAR will also show the GS108T ProSafe 8-Port Gigabit Smart Switch, which is capable of powering 2000 Mbps of data throughput in full-duplex mode. Web-based management simplifies control of the network and enhanced QoS ensures high-priority traffic gets delivered efficiently, even during congestion from high traffic bursts (such as VoIP and video conferencing). Robust security features include MAC-based port security and 802.1x for authentication with Guest VLAN. The switch is also optimised to work with SNMP-based management software, such as NETGEAR's NMS100 ProSafe Network Management Software.

Delivering PoE flexibility, the GS724TP and GS748TP ProSafe Gigabit Smart PoE Switches will also be featured at CeBIT. The Smart PoE Switches are designed for growing businesses that need control over their network without the cost and complexity of Layer 2 switching. The Smart PoE Switches provide power and data using built-in IEEE 802.3af PoE on all 24 or 48 ports. In addition, the intuitive web-based management tool enables a business to quickly deploy and configure access points, VoIP phones and IP cameras.

The FS728TP ProSafe 24+4 10/100 Smart Switch with Full PoE incorporates 24 Ethernet ports, two copper Gigabit ports and two combination Gigabit ports for optional fibre connectivity. The switch supports up to 24 IP-based devices and PoE optimises the installation of wireless access points, VoIP phones and IP cameras.

NETGEAR will also exhibit the SSL312 ProSafe SSL VPN Concentrator 25 which integrates seamlessly with a company's existing firewall infrastructure. The gateway, which bought an SSL VPN solution to the mass market, boosts business productivity with 24x7 secure remote access to files and email without having to install client software on remote computers. Ideal for mid-sized businesses, this cost-effective solution supports up to 25 simultaneous connections via an intuitive web interface.

Included in the CeBIT showcase will be the DGFV338 ProSafe Wireless ADSL Modem VPN Firewall Router, which delivers wired and wireless connectivity with business-class security. Ideal for small office and remote/branch office users, the DGFV338 incorporates six functions: SPI firewall protection, 802.11g wireless access, IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN) support, NAT router, an eight port fast Ethernet switch and in-built ADSL2+ modem support. The router will also enable remote access and support IP cameras.
