Telstra's last mile

Telstra has struck deals with four competing carriers for access to the incumbent's Unconditioned Local Loop Services (ULLS), ending over a year of arbitration led by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. The deals enable AAPT, Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications, Optus and XYZ to provide competitive DSL-based broadband services over the "last mile" - the copper wire linking Telstra exchanges to homes and offices.
