US-based home/SOHO networking vendor Linksys has appointed Ingram Micro to distribute its full range of products to the Australian market.
Linksys manufacturers routers, hubs, switches, network access points, network adapters, PC cards and a variety of cable-free devices and has high market penetration for most of its products in the US.
The vendor entered the Australian market in 1999, signing a distribution agreement with Melbourne-based Multimedia Technology after representatives from the two companies met at the Comdex exhibition. The following year saw the Linksys brand suffer in the channel after the collapse of another appointed distributor, Edge Technology.
Earlier this year, the vendor signed up Servex to distribute its range, which ran several promotions aimed at raising the vendor's profile in the channel.
The appointment with Ingram Micro covers the entire Asia-Pacific region, including Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Singapore and New Zealand.
