Avnet Computer Marketing took its valued channel partners to the Terry Hills golf course in Sydney last month to kick off the launch of its value-added distributor division, Avnet Partner Solutions.
Avnet Partner Solutions was officially launched in January after IBM and Avnet agreed to extend the companies' relationship to include the full range of IBM's hardware and software products, said Michael Costigan, Avnet Partner Solutions' marketing manager.
Around 25 companies were represented on the day with teams of four competing in an 18-hole Ambrose tournament - where the best shot from each team member is taken as the placement for the next shot.
John Schult had a lot riding on the game as he now heads up the Avnet Partner Solutions division. A consummate professional, Schult didn't disappoint, leading his team of David McDade (Computer Merchants), Jeremy Goddard (SSA Global Technologies) and John Richmond (IDS), to overall victory.
Besides a great day, Avnet provided prizes for first, second and third-placed teams as well as a few novelty awards including best swing (IBM's Kevin Kirk) and best-dressed (Avnet's Janet Michie).
