Check Point

The VPN-1 family of virtual private networking offers a broad range of software and hardware based VPN solutions. They can be implemented across multiple platforms, integrated into an overall enterprise security policy and managed from a single central management console.

The VPN-1 family of products has been developed by Check Point to meet the demanding requirements of enterprise VPNs. These products provide secure Internet-based connectivity to corporate networks, remote and mobile users, satellite offices and partner sites. Based on Check Point's FireWall-1 security suite and Check Point's powerful VPN technology, the VPN-1 solutions integrate advanced virtual private networking as a core component of an overall enterprise security policy.

The VPN-1 product family includes solutions that address all aspects of VPNs: software-based VPN Gateway products, plug-and-play VPN appliances, client-based VPN software, VPN acceleration cards and turnkey Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) products.

Check Point VPN-I products are available in Australia and are distributed through Express Data (Australia/NZ), LAN Systems and Westcon. Pricing on application.

NetScreen

The NetScreen-5XP is a purpose-built, ASIC-based security appliance integrating an inspection firewall, virtual private network (VPN) and traffic management functionality for broadband application environments. The NetScreen-5XP is designed for enterprise telecommuters, small/home offices, and remote/branch offices.

It can be deployed by an enterprise connecting their remote workers to a central site or server as the basis of a managed security offering by service providers. It is available in a 10-user version and an unrestricted user version.

The NetScreen-5XP features a line speed working environment, which reduces the security "bottlenecks" caused by server-based firewalls and a chip-based appliance, making it easier to install, reconfigure and maintain. 3DES and DES encryption using digital certificates, IKE auto-key, or manual key is also part of the package.

The NetScreen 5XP is currently available in Australia. Prices start at $1150 per 10 users. The offering is distributed through Digital Networks Australia and Zento.

Intel

The Intel Express 8205 VPN broadband router is aimed at SMB environments with "always-on" broadband Internet connections. The offering offloads the processing required to run VPNs and firewalls on individual PCs. It aggregates these functions into a dedicated device while helping to maintain maximum performance of broadband connections. It is designed to support unlimited users and can establish secure VPN tunnels with 50 other sites.

The Intel Express 8205 VPN broadband router eliminates the need for loading additional software or entering licence keys. It offers two Ethernet interfaces and supports 3DES, DES or RC4 tunnels.

The offering is also designed to reduce costs by enabling the use of a single external IP address DHCP client/server and increase network efficiency through dynamic IP address assignment software-based compression.

Based on the IPSec standard, the 8205 VPN broadband router is interoperable with the Intel NetStructure VPN Gateway Family, as well as other third-party VPN products that support the IPSec standard.
