Nortel Networks names Telecom New Zealand ‘nPower Channel Partner of the Year’ for ANZ

 • 24 March, 2004 12:33

Telecom New Zealand has been named Nortel Networks’ nPower Partner of the Year for Australia and New Zealand, recognising Telecom’s outstanding sales and revenue results and compliance to Nortel Networks high standards for nPower channel partners during 2003.

Members of the Nortel Networks nPower channel partner program sell and support Nortel Networks products and solutions in Asia Pacific.

A Gold status nPower partner, Telecom New Zealand’s success can be attributed to several factors. The first is the migration of customers such as the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) to converged backbone networks for the delivery of data networking services. That particular project was one of the first major projects undertaken jointly by the two companies since Telecom New Zealand joined Nortel Networks nPower channel program in December 2002.

Telecom has also had considerable success assisting existing Nortel Networks customers to migrate from Meridian PABX (traditional telephone) systems to IP (Internet Protocol) telephony platforms. The Nortel Networks IP contact centre solution implemented for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) won a Telecommunications Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ) award in November 2003.

“I’m thrilled that our successful relationship with Telecom New Zealand has been highlighted,” said Rob Spray, Managing Director, Nortel Networks New Zealand.

“The energy and professionalism of Telecom New Zealand in driving our ‘Maximise Your Meridian’ program to our installed base has shown how a global Nortel Networks program can be localised to give customers in any market significant incentive to upgrade to an IP telephony platform, at their own pace,” he said.

Telecom Advanced Solutions General Manager, Chris Quin, said the Nortel Networks nPower Partner of the Year for ANZ award demonstrated Telecom New Zealand’s commitment to IP technology and its ability to communicate the benefits effectively to customers.

“Our success in the last year as a Nortel Networks reseller suggests CIOs are hearing the IP message.

“In our contact centre solutions business and our ICT infrastructure business, IP technology is a critical element in our ability to deliver customers integrated end-to-end ICT solutions,” he said.
