Nintendo readies for Gamecube launch
Convenience store chain Lawson started collecting advance orders for the Game-cube (expected to be launched on Sept ember 15) and its software on August 15 via online "Loppi" terminals installed at each of its 7516 Japanese stores.
Nintendo announced that a total of 500,000 game consoles would be shipped on the first day in Japan and 900,000 more this year. In the US, 1.1 million will be shipped on its first day of sale on November 5.
Peripherals sales up
Inform reports peripherals sales are still bucking the PC buying trend. Monitor sales have increased an average 6 per cent on a month-by-month basis since November 2000 and printer sales have increased at around 2.3 per cent.
