Online auction service provider FairMarket has announced it will host a B2B auction site for the Motor Trades Association of Australia and the Macquarie Bank. The site will allow for the auctioning of ex-government, off-lease automobiles.
Named D-Auction, the site will be accessed by the 1400 car dealers and MTA members via secure log-in. The management of D-Auction is hoping the initiative will bring critical mass to such auctions by including those car dealers who are not normally able to attend the auctions in person.
Nasdaq-listed FairMarket has operated an Australian subsidiary for over a year, with B2C auction sites such as Sold.com.au and PCAuction.com.au, but this is the first B2B auction site it has attempted in Australia.
