Learn and Earn, one part of IBM's Know Your IBM knowledge growth program for the channel, was officially launched in Australia on April 1, 2002, with the first two online modules currently live.
The Learn and Earn incentive-based training course is made up of at least 10 modules that will be released throughout the year. The online learning modules deliver product training on IBM and related products and provide the same level of training that IBM staff members receive.
To participate in the Web-based program, resellers must sign up as registered members of the Know Your IBM knowledge growth program. Members are issued with a user name and password, and can then participate in the online training modules.
A set of five training modules make up each "wave", which focus on a specific product. The first wave in the Learn and Earn program focuses on IBM's ThinkPad notebooks.
To complete the training modules, resellers must read the product information provided and then sit the quiz that follows. According to an IBM spokesperson, it only takes a few minutes to complete a module. The member's learning record is saved, so that the knowledge growth can be reviewed over time. Once the reseller completes a wave they will receive a $50 David Jones gift voucher.
All registered members will be advised by e-mail when the Learn and Earn education modules are available for completion on http://www.knowyouribm.com.
The first five modules will be available for completion until June 17. The second set of modules will be available from September 2 to October 28.
As part of IBM's Know Your IBM channel program, resellers can also participate in the Sell and Win incentive program, whereby the business partner that reports the most sales over the period across all the associate member business partner organisations will receive a $1,000 David Jones gift certificate. In addition, for every $1,000 worth of IBM product sold and reported in Sell and Win, members will obtain a ticket in the draw to win a $4,000 travel voucher from Flight Centre.
