ASX-listed (ASX:EPD) WA services provider, Empired Group, has flagged plans to nationally expand the organisation.
Managing director, Russell Baskerville, said he was looking to expand through acquisition along the east coast.
"Strategically, Melbourne makes a lot of sense for us," he said. "We're actively looking for acquisition opportunities at the moment."
Suitable acquisitions include pure play IT services businesses with up to 75 staff with a strong list of tier-one customers as well as skills around Microsoft's product set, Baskerville said. He also hinted at looking into expansion opportunities in Canberra and Sydney on an opportunistic basis.
The services provider currently has a small office in Melbourne with 15 staff and is looking to recruit another 10 employees in the Victorian region in the next three months.
Baskerville said jobs to be filled included a Microsoft infrastructure specialist, service delivery and project management positions.
Empired is also looking to grow its managed services business.
"Our big strategic push at the moment is IT outsourcing and we're looking to bid on a number of IT outsourcing engagements on the east coast," Baskerville said.
In the meantime, Michael Young has taken up a newly created role as the organisation's WA state manager. He was previously a part of the Commander team Empired acquired in February.
"He's been invaluable to our business and a lot of the senior staff that came across are adding value," Baskerville said. "We're very confident they're all here for the long term."
Last November, the services provider also acquired IT consulting firm, Quadrant Group, for $1.86 million in cash and shares.
