New Zealand Internet integrator gen-i has secured a contract with Sydney-based Mansfield Pathology to deploy a laboratory management system that can track up to 1,000 medical testing requests daily.
The system is designed to improve efficiency and speed up the response time in processing emergency medical tests. Consolidated pathology labs, which are a collection of several laboratories all testing for different conditions, are replacing traditional pathology labs. However, these require flexible, centralised management systems that control the various testing parameters and connect to sophisticated, automatic testing equipment.
Under the new system, regional branch labs will type their requests for tests directly into the system, eliminating confusion over which tests should be done and the need to re-key entries.
The management system will run on Microsoft's Windows 2000 Server.
