Austrade has announced the 12 companies that will travel through San Francisco next week as part of the Silicon Valley Tour 2002.
The tour will commence immediately following the ANZA Technology Network showcase being held from June 2-4 in San Francisco. At this showcase, over 70 Australian IT innovators will display their wares to the US market.
Representatives from 12 companies will then take in a three-day tour of the area, participating in discussions with US channel companies, venture capitalists and vendors.
"We are looking forward to getting some better exposure in the US," said Adrian Floate, director of business development for Perth's Anthem Software. Anthem produces software platforms for B2B transactions and mobile communication. "We want to find some resellers that can add value to our business, and understand the VC space better than we do now."
Floate's sentiments were echoed by Sam Greco of specialist billing system developer Applied Solutions. "We like the opportunity of speaking to potential customers, who are likely in our case to also be new channels to market," he said. "We want to get close to the US market, get a feel and a look and a taste for it."
"I've been in Silicon Valley for four years and I've seen fantastic Australian technology coming though this market," said Peter Lewis, senior trade commissioner in San Francisco. "2002 is no exception - but what has impressed me this year is the commitment to growing a presence in the US market despite the series of factors that have worked against the industry."
The 12 touring companies are: Anthem Software (B2B software platforms), Applied Solutions (billing and mobile software applications), Beonic Corporation (traffic analysis systems for retail outlets), CSM Group (messaging solutions provider), Infovision Technology (library/document management systems), Neuragenix (business process automation systems), Oakton (document management system for law enforcement agencies), Original IT Investments (IT incubator), Sigpoint (plant/pipe monitoring systems), Smart Internet Technologies (Internet-based R&D firm), Speed Legal (document management system for legal vertical), and Westend Digital Productions (3D animation).
