VMware Ace 2.0

VMware ACE 2 Edition aims to address the challenges of deploying, maintaining and controlling complex desktop environments ranging from managed, company owned PCs through to employee owned and third-party PCs. With VMware ACE 2, IT administrators can design and then deploy PC environments to desktops, laptops and portable media devices. Its policy-based management tools allow administrators to configure, control and establish the security parameters for a virtual machine, packaged with all the software needed for a secure desktop deployment. Once deployed, ACE clients can be tracked, modified and deactivated at any time via ACE Management Server. VMware ACE 2 allows users to deploy an ACE virtual machine as an IT managed virtual notebook to remote/home workers, provision tightly controlled desktop images as sandbox environments for third-party users, or run legacy operating systems and applications on an existing PC as users within an organisation are migrated to Vista.

The software redirects the multimedia processing tasks dynamically between the client and server. Wyse's TCX USB Virtualiser software allows users to simply plug in their USB peripheral or USB-based printer, scanner, storage device, Palm, BlackBerry and Pocket PC handheld, and access it through any Citrix XenDesktop or VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) virtualised desktop environment.
