Cisco security subsidiary, IronPort, has appointed Peter La Fontaine as its territory manager for Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. The appointment is the sixth new appointment in the last three months.
Recent additions to the team include a systems engineer in Melbourne, an account manager in WA, and new channel manager, Ken Tweedale. Together, the new appointments nearly doubled IronPort's Australian staff numbers, La Fontaine said.
He attributed the rapid growth in staff numbers to a rapid increase in market demand for IronPort products.
"There's a new level of awareness in the marketplace that email and Web security is a key area of threat for organisations," he said. "The IronPort branding has also been given a big boost since its acquisition by Cisco, so now people are more familiar with our product sets, and we've got a great deal more resources."
La Fontaine said his first point of focus was to approach potential customers that IronPort hasn't previously reached. "I'll also be meeting with resellers to discuss further opportunities with IronPort," he said.
Prior to IronPort, La Fontaine worked for Dell Computer as mid-market national sales manager. Earlier, he was Victorian state sales manager with integrator, BCA IT.
