Ingram Micro has signed a distribution agreement with Canon. The deal will see the vendor slotted in to Ingram's recently established Consumer Home and Office Solutions (CHOS) division.
Ingram will stock Canon products from May 1 and has access to the vendor's range of digital video, SLR and digital compact cameras as well as accessories.
CHOS business manager, Jacqueline Bergin, said the company viewed Canon as a key vendor to help further develop its CHOS division. Ingram also distributes Kodak and Sony products.
"It will help grow awareness and shows that we are skilled in these types of products," she said. "We will be targeting retailers, Canon shops and SMBs."
Ingram joins Dicker Data, Express Online, TodayTech, Cellnet, XiT, Alloys International, Topstar Computers, BMS Technology and CompuWholesale.
According Canon spokesperson, Andrew Giles, the vendor had been reviewing its consumer product sales and distribution practices for the past year in order to help identify opportunities and make operations more efficient and effective.
"As a result of this review we saw significant opportunities to focus our resources on sales and marketing by transferring Canon's direct customer to our authorised distributor network," he said. "Ingram's investment and focus on this growing market area made it a logical addition to our authorised distributor list."
