Internet hosting specialist Hostworks has won a joint pitch with Accenture for a five-year deal with the Australian Football League (AFL).
The deal is for the development and hosting of an e-commerce system that will facilitate online transactions between Aussie Rules clubs and their supporters.
Accenture will build an e-commerce engine based on Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000 to enable online merchandise and membership sales. Hostworks will manage these software applications from its Adelaide data centre.
The engine Accenture plans to build for the deal is expected to process over 1.2 million page impressions and 250,000 electronic commerce transactions a month.
