Anyware pushes into home entertainment

Distributor hires ex-Express Online staffer, Steve Grant, as marketing manager and Melita Medina as national retail manager

Anyware Computer Accessories has inked a distribution deal with digital home network vendor, OWLink Technology.

The US-based vendor's technology transmits uncompressed digital video, audio and control signals over a single Digital Light Interface (DLI) fibre optic cable.

Anyware managing director, Garrison Huang, said the new deal would help Anyware boost its position in the multimedia and home entertainment market.

"OWLink reflects our intensions to build up our portfolio in this area," he said. "The products fits well in this market where people are mixing computers with home entertainment systems.

"We want to be able to further grow our business by adopting new trends."

Huang said he would like to recruit more AV and computer resellers. Anyware is bundling the OWLink products with a wireless keyboard that features a track ball.

In other news, the distributor has appointed Melita Medina as national retail manager to look after its mass merchant business. She will also be the product manager across Plantronics and Altec Lansing. Medina has held a variety of sales and marketing roles with MyNetFone, NetComm and Nodtronix.

Anyware has also recruited Steve Grant as its national marketing manager. He has more than 10 years of experience in marketing, product and brand management roles and was recently with Express Online. His resume also includes positions with Dataflow Computer Services, Computer2000, Merisel and Konica Minolta.
