Two of Cisco's Australian channel partners were honoured as global innovators at the networking giant's annual Partner Summit in Hawaii.
Express Data was awarded Global Innovation Distributor of the Year, while Dimension Data received Global Solution Innovation Partner of the Year. The two organisations were among 11 partners recognised for global excellence out of a list of more than 3000 certified Cisco partners.
Express Data managing director, Ross Cochrane, said obtaining worldwide recognition was a very strong endorsement of its business strategy.
"Since we're not in the US, we've got to be quick to market with a strong desire to utilise technology, create efficiencies and improve communications," he said. "It's good to see Australian technology businesses being recognised globally as being innovators."
The distributor has been a Cisco partner for at least 12 years and, last year, won Cisco's Asia-Pacific Distributor of the Year award.
"Being a value-added distributor, we need to continually focus on technologies, new programs and new ways of doing business that will make it easy for our channel partners to participate in where the market is moving," Cochrane said. "We always like to recognise that our customers are the ones that support us in what we do and through this award, hopefully, they can see we are innovative and that we can bring new offerings in the future."
Dimension Data CEO, Steve Nola, said its award recognised the investment the integrator had made locally into Cisco technologies over the last three years. He attributed the win to a combination of innovation, investment and meeting customer needs.
"It really looks at where we can actually add value from our client's perspective, with some the tools that we develop," he said.
The integrator has developed an IP active directory (IPAD) solution which allows customers to manage their user community from a single source, instead of managing them separately on a call manager and on an active directory. User changes are also replicated on both directories.
"It really added value to what we did around Cisco's technology. I think it was one of the reasons why we were chosen for the award," Nola said.
Westcon Group also took out two awards at the Cisco event - Global Distributor of the Year and Multi-Theatre Partner of the Year. It was the first time a distributor has received a Partner award.
